About Tri-Car

Founded in 1997, Tri-Car was built on firsthand industry experience and a deep understanding of pilot and escort operations. Owner Maureen Dunkley began her career as a pilot/escort operator in the early 1990s, working directly in the field and gaining practical knowledge of the safety, precision, and professionalism required to support oversize and over-dimensional transport.

Recognizing the growing need for dependable and well-organized support services, Maureen established Tri-Car to provide reliable pilot/escort solutions for carriers and specialized transport operations. As the industry evolved, so did Tri-Car. Over the years, the company naturally expanded into logistics coordination, helping customers manage driver placement, scheduling, and operational requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

In 2020, Tri-Car formally established logistics coordination as a primary service, reflecting both the company’s expertise and the increasing demand for experienced coordination support.

With more than 28 years of industry experience, Tri-Car remains committed to delivering knowledgeable, responsive, and professional coordination services. When Tri-Car is part of your movement, you can move forward with confidence.

Our Services

Height Pole Services

Our height pole services provide an added layer of safety for oversized loads by identifying potential overhead obstructions before the load reaches them. By running a height pole ahead of the vehicle, we ensure adequate clearance, protect infrastructure, and give advance warning to both the transport team and surrounding traffic. Whether required by state regulations or company policy, our experienced operators help ensure every move is completed safely, smoothly, and without costly interruptions.

Lead Car Services

Tri-Car coordinates qualified lead car pilot escorts to support the safe movement of oversize and over-dimensional loads. Lead vehicles play a critical role in identifying route hazards, monitoring traffic conditions, and providing advance warning to both the load driver and surrounding motorists. Our coordination process prioritizes certified, insured, and experienced operators to help ensure consistent, professional support throughout the route.

Route Survey Services

Tri-Car coordinates route survey services to assist carriers in evaluating roadway conditions prior to oversize and over-dimensional movements. Route surveys help identify potential restrictions, clearance concerns, and route-specific challenges that may impact safe transport. Our coordination process connects customers with experienced and qualified operators who document relevant observations to support informed planning and decision making.

Traffic Control Support

Tri-Car coordinates pilot and escort operators who assist with traffic control and roadway awareness as part of oversize load movements. Escort vehicles help manage surrounding traffic conditions by providing advance warning, maintaining proper positioning, and supporting safe navigation along the permitted route. These functions contribute to safer, more predictable transport operations while promoting situational awareness for both the load driver and the traveling public.

Mapping Services

Tri-Car supports mapping and route planning through the use of specialized routing tools designed for oversize and permitted movements. We utilize and strongly encourage our vendors to use inRoute to plot permitted routes, helping operators maintain route accuracy and situational awareness throughout the movement. This approach promotes consistency, improves communication, and helps reduce the risk of off-route deviations.
